After several beta version, This week WordPress 4.4 is available for the public. The WordPress 4.4 version is named “Clifford” in the honor of Jazz trumpeter Clifford. The new features of this WordPress version make your site more responsive and connected. It also introduces an all new default theme i.e. twenty sixteen.
Please Note : The WordPress 4.4 is a major release so it will not automatically update. You need to update your blog manually. Before updating to WordPress 4.4, please take a backup of your website using which help you to get back your site in the unforeseen circumstances. You can download WordPress 4.4 from wordpress.org or directly update it from the comfort of your dashboard.

Responsive Images
Don’t worry about the responsiveness, now WordPress has taken a smarter approach to displaying image sizes on any device, ensuring a perfect fit every time.
Embed Everything
You can easily embed your posts on other WordPress posts. Just simply put post link into the editor and see the instant embed preview, complete with the title, excerpt and featured image if you have set one. In addition to post embeds, WordPress 4.4 also adds support for five new oEmbed providers i.e. Cloudup, Speaker Deck, VideoPress, Reddit Comments and ReverbNation.
Other Improvements
- REST API Infrastructure: Infrastructure for the REST API has been integrated in the core, make it easy for the developers to build and extend RESTful APIs on top of WordPress.
- Term meta: Terms now support metadata.
- Comment query improvements: Comments query now have cache handling to improve performance. New arguments in WP_Comment_Query make crafting robust comment queries simpler.
- Term, Comment and network objects: New WP_Term, WP_Comment, and WP_Network objects make interacting with terms, comments, and networks more predictable and intuitive in code.
WordPress 4.5 is coming next year. Automattic has already started working on it. Company has not yet specify the month for the release.
