The fastest way to build a WordPress post is by using Gutenberg blocks. The WordPress platform as a whole is moving with blocks as a trailblazing feature. Even WordPress 5.3, the latest version of the CMS, comes with a huge collection of enhancements, additions, and optimizations for blocks. At the moment, the default Gutenberg blocks offer a quick way to create basic content for your site, but they lack in customization and styling options. I have been trying out several plugins for further improving the Gutenberg block plugin when I stumbled upon Qubely Pro, a plugin by Themeum.
Themeum has been continuously updating its Gutenberg block plugin Qubely after a warm welcome by the WordPress community, adding more value to its free version. Qubely is a free Gutenberg block plugin that contains more than 25 free custom blocks. Almost all settings have responsiveness control, so scaling on different devices is not much of an issue.
While most of the projects can be done with the free blocks, limitations still exist, and I have found that the premium version of Qubely is well worth the investment. It pays off if you are aiming to take your platform to the next level, and you are serious about moving to Gutenberg. In addition to the free blocks, Qubely Pro comes with eight advanced premium blocks, an extensive collection of Starter Packs, and Sections that speed up your workflow. And there’s more. Let’s dive deeper into Qubely Pro.
I’ll share my experiences while using Qubely Pro based on its features & functionalities.
There’s a huge collection of starter packs in Qubely Pro. You get 13 different packs for 13 separate use cases. This enables you to create a website in minutes without going through all the hassles of designing each and every part of the site. Themeum’s design team has pretty well designed all the starter pack layouts. You will have to add your custom contents to make it your own, but it’s better than starting from scratch.
Sections are the best way of quickly adding ready-made features to your website. Sections are primarily built using Qubely Gutenberg blocks, so they come with huge potential for customizability. There are a total of 150 sections, including feature lists, contact forms, content sections, meet the team sections, and a lot more. All are created with Qubely’s highly customizable Gutenberg blocks, so. There are multiple options from each category to choose from as well. You could also view all their sections in their Qubely Page. For example, if you are building a “Meet The Team” section, you can go to Import Layout>Sections>Team and select what layout you like. Afterward, add the custom content like social links, contact information, pictures, and you are good to go!
Each block is enabled with animations that will be triggered once the page loads. These animations make the whole page feel lively and interactive. There are seven pre-built animations like slide, flip, and bounce. You can also change the behavior of the animation curve from the options panel as well.
All relevant settings are fitted with responsiveness settings. This is to make sure all of your blocks respond to the type of device and behave accordingly. You can change them by only going into the options settings, selecting the type of equipment, and alter the options accordingly.
Each text field is fitted with a custom typography option that will allow you to use a vast library of fonts and change the styling. Qubely comes with a huge collection of 900 fonts, so you can choose which one you like. There’s a huge amount of customization available to get into the nitty-gritty edits.
A crucial part of modern web design is interaction. With the help of interactions, you can make your site much more lively and appealing to anyone scrolling by. Granted, it is a bit more technical and requires a bit of time to master, but I found it quite easy to use once I got the hang of it. There are six interaction movements available that you can add to almost any of the elements in Qubely blocks.
Qubely Pro’s advanced blocks provide a big enhancement over the default blocks. I doubt there are many customization options you won’t be able to find in the settings panel. Moreover, all relevant options have responsiveness control, as well. Let’s take a look into the blocks and a brief overview of each.
Advanced Post Grid
This block acts as an upgraded version of the “Latest Post” block; it fetches recent posts based on selected categories and tags. Along with two basic layouts in the free version, Qubely Pro comes with three more layouts preset.
This contact form block can help bridge the gap between the site admin(s) and the users. There are more styling options and customizations than you could ever use at the same time. What sets this block apart from the rest is the “Add New Item” button, which you can use to add additional content to your Contact Form.
Price lists are essential for monetized platforms. What I like about Qubely’s price list is the ability to add a uniform background to the whole block as well as adding badges like “HOT” or “NEW” to the products. This can showcase the monetization plan in a beautiful way.
You will almost always need a way of showing a group of pictures to the site visitors. This is where the gallery comes in. This block is one of the complete variants of a Gallery block on the market. It supports loading animations, mouse interactions, captions with overlays, and quite a bit more. Although one caveat of the Qubely Gallery block is that there is no in-line reordering. However, since WordPress 5.3 recently added this feature to the default Gallery block, I expect Qubely to follow suit soon and add this feature.
The Testimonial Carousel provides a sneak peek into the experiences of a satisfied user. You can edit pretty much every aspect of the block, as there are control sliders for almost everything. Responsiveness control is also present, so you can edit this block to fit all devices. Using this block, or any testimonial block will improve your site’s credibility.
A lot of the settings from the Testimonial Carousel block are carried over to Post Carousel. You can choose which posts to show based on categories or tags. With the help of a post carousel, you can create more internal linking to help retain visitors on your site for longer sessions at a time.
Again, a large portion of the settings has been kept similar between all the carousel blocks. It creates a nice touch of continuity throughout the plugin. The team carousel block can create a personal connection between the company/organization and the users.
Image carousels serve somewhat of a similar purpose to the gallery; it is, however, a bit more interactive as the user can scroll through the images. All the preset layouts are very usable, but I like Layout 3 the most.
Themeum’s pricing plans are very competitive compared to the current market as they provide a huge value for money. If you are a developer continually working on new projects, then the Unlimited Licenses, Lifetime pack is the one I would recommend to you. On the other hand, if you are running a solo business and administering your site, then the single or five license pack is a great way to start. They also provide priority support for any of your problems if you buy the premium packs, and I’ve found their support to be very fast and reliable.
Qubely Pro comes into the market as a very strong contender for one of the must-have Gutenberg block plugins. It not only contains some powerful features of its own but also includes all the features of Qubely’s free version. With a huge emphasis on customization and responsiveness, this plugin is a must-have if you ever work with Gutenberg blocks. The Ready Sections and Starter Packs are also a big part of why you should be trying them out right now.
